Award Winning Skincare

A Glittering Start to 2022 for Gardiner Family Apothecary!

Barely into a new year and the awards are already starting to stack up for Gardiner Family Apothecary and our Irish free-from skincare brands, Elave and Ovelle!

Joanna Gardiner, CEO, said: “We are delighted that Gardiner Family Apothecary is being recognised across the sector and media in 2022 for the excellence of our business and our outstanding skincare formulations.

“As a homegrown family business founded over 86 years ago by my grandfather, Joseph Gardiner, we have dedicated our expertise to creating only the finest quality skincare for dry, sensitive and eczema-prone Irish skin.

“We have always been ahead of the curve when it comes to recognising and leaving out, the harmful ingredients that can irritate and damage delicate skin. Now the public is becoming increasingly aware of how important it is to treat skin right.”

Gardiner Family Apothecary has just been awarded Best Cruelty Free Skincare Brand and Best Sustainable Skincare Brand by Global Health & Pharma, the prestigious global information sharing platform for professional decision-makers which focuses on human, animal and environmental health.

UV light is transmitted in three wavelengths. One of them, UVB, is mostly responsible for sunburn and has strong links too many types of skin cancer. When skin is exposed to sunlight it produces more melanin – a brown pigmentation – to try and absorb the harmful rays.

It’s never too soon for tweeners to start a sensible skincare routine

The first six months of life are particularly important for delicate young skin. When a child is born its skin is anatomically mature, but functional maturity continues during the first year of life and is often not complete until around the age of two.

From the age of two until puberty, children’s skin is naturally soft, smooth and full of water, but it is also a lot thinner and more vulnerable than adult skin and is therefore  more liable to be affected by environmental pollutants and irritants.

Aloe vera – a skincare remedy straight from Mother Nature

The gel-like component of the aloe vera plant is known to help with a variety of skin issues like sunburn, small cuts and abrasions.   The name derives from the Arabic word ‘alloeh’ - meaning shining bitter substance – and the Latin word ‘vera’ – meaning true. References to the use of aloe vera can be found in Chinese and Sumerian writings dating back to 3000BC
