Get the sunscreen habit all year round – it’s as easy as brushing your teeth!

Summer may seem far away, but UV rays can penetrate cloud cover on even the
dullest of spring days. There can also be unexpected spells of bright sunshine even
when it is chilly outside. Any chance it gets, UV ages the skin, so using a sunscreen
in a self-care regime every day of the year should be as routine as brushing your
teeth!

Dry, sensitive Type I and Type II skin is particularly vulnerable to sun damage,
especially for those who work outdoors or enjoy outdoor sports. The UV index is
typically low enough between September and March in Ireland for SPF30 to provide
adequate coverage. If you are going on a ski trip or winter sun break, however, you
should use a sunscreen with broad spectrum SPF50.

All sunscreens protect against UVB rays, which are the main cause of sunburn and
skin cancers, but SPF does not apply to UVA rays, which are also harmful. A broad
spectrum formulation provides infrared thermal protection against both sorts of rays
by including vitamins, botanicals and antioxidants to neutralise free radicals and
promote repair.

Elave Sun offers high broad spectrum, water resistant, infrared thermal protection
that is paediatrician and dermatologically approved from newborn. All Elave
formulations, including the sunscreens, are allergen-free, making them particularly
suitable for dry, sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

Elave Daily Skin Defence SPF45
A unique combination of oil-free emollients with high UVA and UVB protection for
use 365 days of the year. This invisible zinc, vitamin B5 and E antioxidant-enriched
formula is absorbed quickly into the skin to help repair environmental dermal
damage. An SPF of 45 helps guards against the signs of UV exposure such as dark
spots, roughness and loss of elasticity. Use over or instead of a moisturiser.
Recommended for all skin types.

Elave Daily Lip Defence SPF20
Keep your lips smooth and chap-free with this ultra-hydrating balm with broad-
spectrum SPF20. This multi-action formula contains zinc, coconut oil, shea butter,
naturally derived collagen and vitamin E to recondition, soften, smooth and protect
lips while menthol gives a cooling sensation.

Elave Sun SPF30/SPF50+
These allergen-free sunscreens contain both physical and chemical sunscreens to
offer broad spectrum, water resistant and infrared thermal protection. Lightweight
and oil-free, they are enriched with botanical extracts and antioxidant vitamins B5, C and E to protect and repair. The SPF30 is an invisible zinc formula which leaves no white marks behind. Properly applied, SPF30 blocks out 97% of the sun’s rays and SPF50 blocks out 98% of the sun’s rays.

Elave Sun Paediatric SPF50+
Safe to use from birth, this new generation of encapsulated UV filters delivers high
performing, prolonged and consistent SPF protection for young children. Contains 12 antioxidants, including vitamins B5, C and E, nine botanicals, and emollients to soothe and protect delicate young skin.

Sun damage is cumulative – short periods of exposure do add up over time. That’s
why it is best to use sunscreen year-round. Pick the same time of day, and the same place, to apply. For example, in the morning, at the bathroom mirror, or at your dressing table. If you reach for it immediately after brushing your teeth, it will become part of your daily routine. reach for it immediately after brushing your teeth, it will become part of your daily routine. Get the sunscreen habit for great skin!
